Granton Fringe
You might recognise our wonderful host Gunnar – the ever-charismatic presence behind the steam at Granton and Portobello. But this Fringe, he's stepping out of the heat and into the spotlight. As a talented artist in physical movement, Gunnar is bringing a brand new physical comedy performance to Big Bear for our very first ever Fringe show.
A BEAR CALLED WOJTEK
A Bear Called Wojtek is a physical comedy performed inside a wood-fired sauna – almost certainly the hottest ticket at the Fringe. Inspired by the true story of a bear enlisted in the Polish army, this playful, four-pawed performance heats up body, mind and soul.
Join Wojtek on the Granton promenade for a clawsome multisensory experience. Audience participation is optional – but don’t be surprised if the bear draws you into his world. And if it all gets a bit too hot to handle, you’re welcome to step outside and cool off in one of the cold tubs.
Come ready to sweat, laugh, and maybe even growl a little.
SWS x Underbelly at the Fringe
Underbelly’s Circus Hub on the Meadows | 2 - 23 August 2025
Experience the timeless ritual of sauna in the beating heart of the Festival Fringe at Circus Hub. Step into the soothing warmth, where the noise fades and presence returns. Between steams, awaken your senses with invigorating cold plunges. For those curious to go deeper, daily guided rituals invite a richer connection to this ancient tradition. Amidst the buzz and brilliance of the festival, pause for a moment of playful restoration. Rooted in centuries of practice, our mobile sauna is more than heat — it’s a space to reconnect, reflect, and immerse in the magic.
